Camp Floyd Commissary & Museum

Welcome to the Camp Floyd Commissary and Museum, a historically significant building that dates back to 1858 when it was constructed by Johnston's Army as a vital storehouse for military equipment and provisions. Following the army's recall for the Civil War in 1861, the Commissary Building found new ownership in the Beardshall Family through an auction. Relocated to its present site in Fairfield, it was repurposed as the family's residence, while the other camp buildings met various fates of being sold, dismantled, or destroyed. Today, this treasured edifice stands as the Camp Floyd museum, preserving its rich heritage and providing visitors with a unique glimpse into the past events that have shaped our nation's history.
